Tour Guiding Adventures of 3 Extremely Awkward Girls

Wheeeeeeeeee haven't posted in like 2 weeks because of midterms and papers and life. cry. We're actually really lacking in the life part of that sentence, but ya knoooow, let's just pretend we have lives outside of school. But anyways, the point of this post, 2 midterms, and 2 papers later, a friend of our's (me (Annie) and Pam) found a craigslist ad for a two day tour guiding job for Japanese students around a university here called UBC. Of course, everyone loves Japanese people right? RIGHT? So we definitely had to tag along and pretend to be tour guiding too, and who doesn't love (almost) free money. Getting paid for walking around campus pretty much was just exercise, and we were being paid for it? WE WERE BEING PAID FOR EXERCISING! (For all of y'all that go to UBC and saw three short Asian girls trotting around campus with an army of Japanese boys while yelling about squirrels and other questionable things, we are sorry to have disturbed the peace of UBC, that is all.)

Continuing on with this story though, Pam and I ended up at UBC after classes yesterday, which was Thursday, and we met with our friend, Linda, who was the actual tour guide since both me and Pam don't even go to UBC. #imsorryimnotubc So, here we are, the three of us standing off to the side, and a whole group of other tour guides standing in a small circle looking shape, while we all just kinda waited for the students to arrive. I think we arrived waaaaaaaaay too early though, waited almost a whole hour before they arrived. :(

Here's a picture of Pam and Linda being all cute and tour guiding ready while we waited.
(I'M SORRY I AM AN INCOMPETENT PHOTOGRAPHER, I KNOW HOW BLURRY THIS PICTURE IS)

And then when we saw those giant white tour buses, you have no idea how excited we were. Ya, we waited a long time but, KAWAII JAPANESE STUDENTS. cry. There were like...3 buses of students. Ya, that's a lot of kawaii-ness. Linda was like the 9th tour guide though, so that was another 10 minutes of waiting while the others before her got their groups and while more students unloaded off the buses. By like the third bus Linda finally got her group, yay! She (Well, WE now!) got a group of 13(?) short/nerdy/jockey looking male students. We didn't actually count to begin with, although it was advised that the tour leaders should have in case they lost people...but they kinda just pushed us along to make room so we never got to count how many we had. But, BUT, we instantly gained a mini Japanese army. Never have I had so many boys following me before. cry.

So we begin the touring of UBC, yay! I honestly don't even remember what all the places we went to were called, so I'll just leave that out, but everywhere we went, there were people giving us these "O_O" "o_O" "O_o" kind of looks. Ya know? The usual kind of look you give a girl when you see an army of men following her eheheheheheheh. Naw, but people definitely gave us weird looks. Walking into one of the library's was one of those kind of wtf moments. Everyone's just sitting there, studying, playing LoL, doing their own thing and then SUDDENLY, we walked in. Ya, that's right. We're so popular, we have a group of Japanese boys following us (no not really, but let me dream ok). I swear people didn't even stop staring until we were COMPLETELY gone. Even when we walked out of the different rooms of the library, people still stared. But y'all know what else is awks? WHEN YOU SEE SOMEONE YOU KNOW ANDDDDD, you have a group of clueless male students following you. Of course, they'll be questioning about it eventually....but...I just told them they were my boyfriends. cry. Every girls dream right?

Picture was supposed to be of them running after a squirrel, but it ended up as this.

What I really learned was, rather than a tour, if you really want to amuse Japanese students, show them squirrels. Why squirrels you ask? Well, I don't know either. But it seemed like every time there was a squirrel everyone pulled out their cameras to take pictures of the squirrel and then attempted to run after or catch it. And let me tell y'all, we saw A LOT of squirrels. In fact, I think these students may actually have more pictures of squirrels than the actual infrastructures and sceneries that can be seen at UBC. Although our group seemed to be extremely interested in squirrels, some other groups we saw seemed more interested in crows and seagulls instead. But either way, I'm pretty sure any kind of animal would've kept them more interested than us trying to tell them the building to the left is a library or the building to the right is the science building.

At the end of the hour and a half-ish tour, we said goodbye. :( It's okay though, cause we took a picture of all 13 of our boyfriends! (Number had been confirmed to 13 from the picture xD) I counted right, right? :3 But honestly, this was the most fun we've had in forever and the most exercise I've gotten in forever too...(who really has time to exercise anymore other than during the walk/transit to school and walking around campus :( ) But anyways, I hope you guys enjoyed this adventure post and follow us! Thanks for the read. p:

Last picture for the memories :)
(oh, right, and these students were from a high school in Fukuoka if anyone was curious)
